J.P. CORMIER: Triple MIANS award nominee set to appear in first ever headline concert at the Rebecca Cohn

HALIFAX – August 25, 2005 – Serving as the ultimate warm-up to the Celtic Colours International Festival, award winning multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter J.P. Cormier is set to perform at Halifax’s premier concert venue, The Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, on October 01st. The evening’s program will be multi-faceted as the man himself with blistering instrumentals, new original songs, and selections from his critically acclaimed 2005 release “The Long River: A Personal Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot”. Joining him as special guest will be New Brunswick-born roots/blues phenomenon Matt Andersen. Their combined success bringing audiences to their feet at this year’s Stan Rogers International Folk Festival makes this pairing an already proven winner.

In related news, the Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia (MIANS) yesterday announced it’s industry and music award nominees for 2005, to be awarded at the association’s annual conference September 21 - 25 in Halifax, NS. J.P. Cormier has been recognized in the Folk/Roots Album of the Year and Musician of the Year categories for “The Long River”, as well as a nod in the Entertainer of the Year category. Cormier had this to say; “I’m really excited to be doing this solo show at the Cohn, so it’s timely to be receiving such gracious recognition from MIANS for a project we worked so hard on over the past six years. Just the nominations mean a great deal.” >> MORE
