CORMIER takes home Instrumental Album of the Year at 1st
Annual CFMA’s: Will ring in 2006 as headlining performer
for televised New Year’s Eve celebration
HALIFAX
- December 12, 2005 - J.P. CORMIER has been recognized
by the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) in the Instrumental
Artist of the Year (Solo) category for “X8…
a mandolin collection”. The CFMA’s, created
“to celebrate and promote Canadian folk music in
all it’s forms”, were handed out Saturday
night at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Gatineau

Cormier
will spend the remainder of the month working in his recording
studio before heading to Halifax for CTV Atlantic’s
BT New Year’s Eve Show. The annual event, hosted
by familiar personalities from Breakfast Television, and
watched by 100,000 households on ATV/ASN, is an open-air
all ages celebration in the heart of downtown Halifax.
Thousands will descend on Grand Parade at City Hall for
live music and fireworks. The festivities begin at 10:00pm
Atlantic Time with J.P. Cormier hitting the stage. For
the 20th year running, Metro Transit will be offering
bus and ferry services free of charge beginning at 8:30pm
through extended hours.
