On Saturday night, Cormier takes another step into new ground, headlining the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium for the first time. The 1000 seat venue is the prime listening room in the province, and a benchmark in an artist’s career.

“The stage show at the Cohn is going to kick some serious ass – it’s shocking even to me. There’s a brand new energy and new texture in the band.”

While Cormier has guested many times on the Cohn stage, this is his first time topping the marquee. Opening the show is New Brunswick guitarist and singer Matt Andersen, “and we’ll likely be tinkering around together at the end,” says Cormier.

“It’s gonna be a doozy. I’ve got the best band I’ve ever had.”

Cormier teams up with his wife and pianist Hilda Chiasson-Cormier and multi-instrumentalist Russell Sawler, one of the best banjo players in Canada, who also doubles on bass and sings harmony vocals.

The Moncton-raised Sawler was key in helping produce on of Cormier’s recent projects, a detailed transcription book of the guitar work on his 2002 CD Primary Color.

The guitar learning book, Primary Color: The Owner’s Manual unravels some of the mystery of Cormier’s blazing guitar work on the album.>> more
