J.P.
Cormier latest addition to Paquin’s roster
Paquin Entertainment Agency is proud to announce the signing
of singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and award winner
J.P. Cormier to our roster.
Cormier
was renowned as a prodigious musical talent at the age of
five. Born in London, Ontario to Cape Breton parents, he
recorded his first album—a collection of bluegrass
instrumentals—at the age of 16. With the project in
hand, he worked his way across the U.S. festival circuit,
performing for anyone who might take notice. These appearances
led to a move to the U.S. and 10 years of session work,
live appearances, including many memorable nights at the
Grand Old Opry with such notable artists as Waylon Jennings,
Marty Stuart, Earl Scruggs, Bill Munroe, Charlie Louvin,
and Vince Gill. Since his return to Canada a decade ago,
Cormier has released eight recordings, including the critically
acclaimed 2005 album, “The Long River: A Personal
Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot”. His impressive body
of work has earned him a vast and loyal fan base. Cormier
also holds multiple award nominations and wins including,
most recently, two 2005 East Coast Music Awards, two Music
Industry Association of Nova Scotia awards, and a placing
in the prestigious International Song Competition.
Just
days after “wowing” a sold-out Rebecca Cohn
auditorium in Halifax, J.P. Cormier is now headed to Richmond
Virginia for the 67th National Folk Festival. Presented
by the National Council for the Traditional Arts, the National
Folk Festival is the oldest multi-cultural traditional arts
celebration in the United States. Cormier joins a roster
including such notable artists as Dervish, Hayden Thompson,
and the legendary Ralph Stanley. Canadian Honorary Consul
to Richmond, Mr. Bill Benos, has invited Cormier as special
guest to his delegate reception recognizing Canada’s
contribution to the National Folk Festival, past and present,
and to the traditional arts in general.
