transcribed by Russell Sawler. This book is a companion
tool to J.P.’s award winning “Primary
Color… a guitar collection” unlocking
all of the tricks and techniques, note for note, as they
are heard on the album. We are confident this is the most
thorough and accurate description of a guitar player’s
technique that has been produced to date. Not only does
it include intricately detailed tablature, but J.P.’s
own personal insights into his playing style and the styles
of those who have influenced him most.

Thank
you for purchasing this book. It was a labour of love, and
a huge undertaking. It would never have happened without
the gentle prodding of a long time friend, who eventually
ended up being the driving force behind this tome. His name
is Russell Sawler and I owe him a huge debt for the tremendous
amount of time and perseverance he used in the painstaking
transcriptions he compiled here inside these covers. He
also has written similar texts on the playing of J.D. Crowe,
the world famous bluegrass banjo player. Russell himself
is no slouch on that particular instrument, as can be demonstrated
